It can be numerous things. If the check engine light is on then you need to take it to a repair shop and have them diagnosis it for you. You may have to have the cooling system pressure tested for leaks.
I had this very same problem with my Chevrolet Silverado. The only thing that will cure this problem is replacing all your Oxygen Sensors and running premium fuel.

There are approximately 2 oxygen sensors on a 2005 Chevrolet Astro van. The oxygen sensors can be purchased at stores such as NAPA.
the thermostat could be stuck closed or the radiator fan is not working. check the fuse or the temp sensor, but be careul because the 94 have 2 sensors. 1 for the fan and 1 for the temp gauge.

There are two knock sensors on your engine, and they are underneath the intake manifold. You will have to remove the intake to get to the sensors.
There are 4 sensors on the 1995 Chevrolet Blazer. The 2 front for the Disc Brakes is behind the rotors on the hub. The inside hub has gears and the sensors are above them. On the rear, where you have Drum Brakes, the sensors are on the back of the Drum Brake Assembly, next to the bleeder screws.

im pretty sure that is a problem that just needs to be replaced when it goes bad i dont believe it is a fixable problem, at least wasnt for me, be we could possibly have had different problems so try to fix it anyways
