One way to get a disc unstuck from a 6 disc changer is to try to hit eject while the car is off. This sometimes forces the disc to eject.
How did that even happen...
you got a disc stuck in the disc changer.

It is very simple to replace most Toyota Radios. If you have a radio with changer control unit and separate disc changer, my recommendation would be to with a disc changer that is built into the head unit. Check e-bay for cheap OEM replacement.
You don't!
To use the 6-disc changer in a 1996 Lexus ES300, first ensure the car is in "ACC" or "ON" mode. Insert CDs into the slots of the changer, making sure each disc is properly seated and the label side is facing up. Use the audio system controls or the buttons on the changer itself to select the desired disc and track. Follow the prompts on the display to navigate through the discs and enjoy your music.
is the whole unit a changer or is the changer in the trunk or something or under a seat?
You need to clean the CD Changer every 6 months to ensure the CD Changer runs smoothly.
Neither device has any known issues with scratching discs.
According to the 1999 Mercury Sable Owner Guide : The 6 disc CD changer is in the trunk ( or if it is a wagon , the passenger side storage compartment in the cargo area )
You must remove the strip across the dash to remove the side panel to access the CD changer...if you have used paper label CD's you may have glue ick all over your rollers...if it continues to run when you use the radio it will strip the gears of the changer and it's all over.
Mine is in the trunk, its a 6 disc changer.
