Run your car for about 20 min... or until hot... then look at your water pump while the engine is still running... if there is steam rolling off of it... then it needs to be replaced... or if there is any noticable leak... just basically look at it... it should be the middle pully on te bloack
It's very easy to see the pump and you will see signs of leakage under it.
Leaking coolant, making noise or engine overheating.
Hard to start, stalling, noisy fuel pump are signs.

usually when a water pump goes bad your bearing in the pulley on it will start sqealing or your car starts to overheat quite frequently
it will get harder to stear.
You will notice change in level of coolant due to leaky water pump or your start will start to overheat. If you notice that the temperature gauge has started climbing higher than it usually does it means you have a problem with cooling system. It would the thermostat or water pump.
The water pump should only be replaced when you hear signs of the pump failing, i.e: bearings on the pulley are squeaking.

When it fails or starts showing signs of failure.
A water pump might squeak when it is going out. But, it is more likely that the water pump will have a very high pitched squeal when it is getting ready to go out. It might also leak fluid.
