Most problems with abs systems occur because the sensor is actually disconnected or there is a short in the wire somewhere. I would look to solve that problem first. You could soldier the speed sensor wires back together and most often that will be the end of that problem that is especially likeyly if the cars has been in an accident. The speed sensors are located near you brake assembly and is easier to access if the car is on a lift. The ABS sytstem will not function if you the amber ABS dash light is illuminated.
