Yes and no, it is often used in the subordinate clause sense- by itself Science Fiction, but the usually grammatically adrot Funk and Wagnalls encylopedia will say- Brdbury writes powerful Science-fiction stories, but some are marred by a lack of scientific content. Note the hyphenated use. sci-fi as an abbreviation is normally hyphenated. I like it when it is used in the latter part of a sentence- there is your answer.
