Makes no difference if the engine is warm or cold. Just make sure the engine has not been run for at least 30 minutes before checking the oil level. This way you will get a very accurate reading. I normally check my oil level after the car has sat overnight.

On the dipstick there is a safe range. You can check it either hot or cold. When cold the level should be close to the bottom of the safe range. When hot it should be close to the top of the safe range.
There is a small glass "eye" on the right side of the motor at the bottom to check your level. I'm just wondering where the level should be on the glass

theres a small reservior near the top right of engine bay and look at the level it should be at maximum
To check the transmission oil on a Skoda Octavia, you will need to locate the transmission dipstick, which is typically located near the back of the engine bay. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is warmed up to operating temperature. With the engine running, pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, then pull it out again to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick to indicate it is at the correct level.
