In motor-driven vehicles it's often best to use a high gear, as it reduces the likelihood of the wheels spinning loose.
For a bicycle it's often better to use a low gear, as it makes it easier for the rider to control the power.
Accelerate slowly with the vehicle in a higher gear

poor traction
FWD cars will not fishtail unless you turn at a high speed.
Using 1st gear at high speed can cause the engine to rev excessively, potentially leading to engine damage or failure due to over-revving. It can also result in poor vehicle control, increased wear on the drivetrain, and reduced fuel efficiency. Additionally, the sudden increase in torque could cause the wheels to lose traction, especially in slippery conditions. Overall, it's best to avoid using low gears at high speeds to maintain vehicle safety and performance.

Traction affects a car's ability to grip the road surface, which is crucial for acceleration, braking, and cornering. Good traction allows the tires to maintain contact with the road, enhancing stability and control, especially in wet or slippery conditions. Poor traction can lead to skidding or loss of control, making it difficult to navigate turns or stop effectively. Ultimately, traction is vital for safe and efficient vehicle operation.
It turns off your traction control. Meaning the wheels may slip in poor traction conditions when in the on position the vehicles comp. will lessen the torque on the wheels or divert the power to a different wheel. I'd leave it on! There is also a traction control light that flickers when the traction control is detecting wheel slippage and trying to compensate. I check this and if it flickers too much, I shift down. If you turn off the traction control this light will not flicker, so you won't realize you should shift down. There are a few rare circumstances where it is useful to turn off the traction control, the button is there for those cases but right now I don't recall them.
