There is no Power Steering Filter on a 2002 Subaru Legacy/Outback.
I found no mention of a power steering filter in the owner's manual or in the service manual for Outback.
Same as any car with power steering. You can continue to steer the car but with increased effort.
use a turkey baster to suck it out.
For a 2005 Subaru Outback, the recommended power steering fluid is Subaru's own Power Steering Fluid, which is specifically formulated for their vehicles. If that's not available, you can use an equivalent fluid that meets the specifications of Dexron III or Dexron VI automatic transmission fluid. Always consult the owner’s manual for the most accurate information regarding fluid specifications.
