It's a green light that should flash once every time you put your signal light on (either direction). This light tells you that the trailer wiring system that was built into the Disco is working properly. When you tow a trailer and connect the trailer lights to the LR wiring connection next to the hitch, the green "trailer" light on the dash should flash in sync with the signal light arrows every time you put on your signal light. This is telling you that your trailer lights are working properly. If the green "trailer" dash light does not flash, then you might have something wrong with the trailer lights or with the wiring. Unfortunatly Land Rover abandoned this feature on the Disco II.

Trailer Lights Work on Other Vehicles but Not MineIF the lights [tail, turn, and brake] are working on your vehicle, AND the trailer lights will work on some other vehicle, that confirms:That the problem is NOT in your vehicle's wiring system. That the problem is either in the trailer wiring, OR is caused by the IMPROPER connection of the connector plug wires to the wiring of your vehicle. It is critical that the connector plugs [on the vehicle and the trailer] are properly connected to the correct wires. The fact that NONE of the lights work when connected to your truck suggests that the defect is related to the GROUND wireas that is the only wire common to all the different light circuits.
Trailer Lights Not Working ProperlyWithout being able to physically see and troubleshoot the defective trailer light wiring system [from the attachment to the vehicle wiring harness (s) all the way to each of the trailer lamps [light bulbs], one can only speculate.I suspect that the cause for part of the lamp filaments working properly while some don't is the result of connecting some wires to the wrong wires.
If your trailer brake and signal lights only malfunction when the tail lights are on, it could be due to a grounding issue or a short circuit in the wiring. The tail lights may be drawing too much current or creating interference that affects the brake and signal lights. Additionally, check for corroded connections or damaged wires in the trailer's wiring harness that could cause this problem. Testing the trailer's electrical connections with a multimeter can help pinpoint the issue.
The 2005 Jeep Rubicon is not typically pre-wired for trailer lights. While it may have some basic wiring harnesses in place, a complete trailer light wiring kit is usually necessary for proper installation. Many owners choose to install an aftermarket wiring harness to ensure compatibility and safety when towing. Always check the vehicle's manual or consult with a professional for specific wiring needs.
