That is the only electrical device that is in the distributor. Remove the distributor cap and rotor and you will see it.

its a camshaft to crankshaft correlation fault. In other words on of the three (i think) position sensors may be bad or the timing may be off some. Could be from loose rotor bug worn distributor etc...
