Your alternator may not be putting out enough Amps to charge your battery and run your headlights as well.
You can test this by measuring the voltage from the battery with a multimeter. With the car running the volts should be around 14 or more on a 12 volt battery. Try it with the lights on too.
a flat battery
what causes the battery light to on a 2005 ford expedition to come on?
because the battery is the source of the power for the headlights. there could be an issue with the battery or the alternator can be failing.
flat battery!!stupid,..
A few causes that will make the Battery Light come on are: 1. Faulty Battery 2. Loose Battery Connection 3. Battery is not Charging, ie. Faulty Alternator
a belt slipping
A bad stator causes the battery not to charge. That makes the battery light come on. Some other things that can cause the battery light to come on are corroded or frayed cables or connections or a loose/bad ground cable.
Check the battery. Turn headlights on - they will come on with or without the key if it has power from the battery. If lights do not come on, the battery is dead (try jump-starting) or there is a bad connection (loose cable), or a short in the electrical system. If headlights come on, but dashboard lights do not light up - check the ignition (cylinder / switch)
Can be loose or corroded battery connections, loose drive belt, or the alternator is failing.
Reset the check engine light on a Ford Fusion by disconnecting the battery. On newer cars, once the battery is reconnected, the light will come back on. If this happens, disconnect the battery, turn on the headlights until they go off, draining all the electrical current from the capacitor. Reconnect the battery and the light will go off.
There could be several causes for the battery charging circuit warning light remaining "ON," and some that come to mind at the moment include: * The battery is seriously undercharged. * The alternator or generator is not working. * There is a defect in the light circuit.
