sounds like the door check has worn out
No it is NOT even close.
NO, Not even close to being the same design. In late 1999 Chevy REDESIGNED all the transmissions and engines.
It has 2 that are screewed into the exhaust pipe/pipes up close to the engine.
It means that the engine is running hot. Need to check the cooling system real close.
It is STAMPED on the alternator, just look at it real close. You may have to take it off to see it.

The filter is on the drivers side frame rail close to where the rear of the torsion arm is located.
Yes these engines can be swapped because they are both fuel injected engines and should be very close if not identical.
Yes, Just unhook them from the side of the oil filter adapter and install 2 pipe plugs in there place. That's it.
The sunroof on my 2005 Chevy Suburban opened but wouldn't close. It was completely taken out, put back in it's track, hot wired to close and reinstalled. The switch was left disconnected so it wouldn't happen again. Chevy does not sell parts for this unit so the entire sunroof assembly needs to be replaced. It only needs the 2 cables that make it move. A new one will cost about $1500 from the dealer, installed. Installing a used sunroof may save $500-$600, but it would be used without a guarantee.
Close to the city but not in it
It is inside of the driver's side frame rail. You will have to lay up under the truck and look inside of the frame to see it. It will be close to where the transmission cross member bolts to the frame.
