Well your speedo probably isn't mechanical, so i'd guess there's a problem with the sending unit in your transmission. There could also be something as simple as a loose wire. That could also probably be the problem with the cruise control, seeing that's how it regulates it's speed. The ABS and brake light, I'm not so sure about. But you should probably get that checked out ASAP. :)
Answer.
Definatly have the abs system checked. All three complaints could be caused by the same part. The vehicle speed sensor is the sensor on the top of the rear axle. The same sensor is for the abs, speedo, and cruise.
Cruise will NOT work if the speedometer has a problem
Is the TCM working normally and throwing no codes?
If the speedometer and odometer are both not working, I would blame the speed sensor. If only the speedometer does not work and the odometer does work, the cluster is bad.
Possible reasons your speedometer not working: 1. The vehicle speed sensor has failed. 2. The speedometer itself has failed. 3. There is a failure in the wiring or connectors. 4. The engine control module has failed. I don't know what you mean by "fuel mix", please clarify.
The speedometer needs to work in a vehicle for safety and informative reasons. The causes of it intermittently working could be the lack of electricity, or a problem with the sensor.Ê
The gear between the driveshaft and the transmission is broke you need a knew one
Anything that brings the car to a complete stop? Such as the brakes or a Tree?
The speedometer in a 1991 Nissan 240SX may not be working due to several potential issues. Common causes include a faulty speed sensor, a broken speedometer cable, or issues with the instrument cluster itself. Additionally, problems with the vehicle's transmission can also affect the speedometer's operation. Checking these components will help identify and resolve the issue.
it usually is the gear in the transmission Could be the vehicle speed sensor.
either one or both of the following causes that. 1. the instrument cluster is bad. 2. the body control module is bad. both are junkyard parts but the trick is finding good ones.
Probably the stepper motor in the cluster. Can be changed but you have to be handy and good at soldering. Stepper motors are available on Ebay.
The 1987 Chevy Celebrity uses an electronic speedometer, there is no speedometer cable. Assuming your speedometer has failed here are some possible causes: The VSS. vehicle speed sensor, may have failed. The speedometer may have failed. The ECM, engine control module aka computer, may have failed. There may be wiring issues such as unplugged, dirty connections, broken wires, etc.
