I would make sure power is getting to the fuel injector use a noid light to test it. You may also want to check the fuel pressure also the intake manifold may have a leak that can cause a misfire as well. Glad your compression is good. That is a sure sign its something simple.
check plugs, wires, or coil packs. on cylinder #5. But if your changing plugs or wires do them all at one not just #5. ------------------------- Dont forget to check the Fuel Injector also. You can test the injector by swapping the # 5 injector with the injector from any other cylinder. If the miss changes cylinder then the injector is bad.

A misfire in cylinder 5 of a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue can be caused by several factors, including a faulty spark plug, a malfunctioning ignition coil, or issues with the fuel injector delivering fuel to that cylinder. Other potential causes may include vacuum leaks, low compression in the cylinder due to worn piston rings or valves, or problems with the engine control module (ECM). Diagnosing the specific cause typically requires checking ignition components, fuel delivery, and engine compression.
Could be a bum fuel injector. Pull number 6 spark plug again, if it is wet you have a spark problem. If the plug is bone dry you have a fuel problem, probably a bad injector. Swap injector with another cylinder and see if the misfire switches cylinders or remains on number 6 cylinder.
See related link.
It's direct injection, under compression as is used in diesel engines. Most automobile injectors are either throttle body (sort of like a carburetor with one or two injectors serving all cylinders) or manifold injection with an injector for each cylinder.
a simple cause would be if distributor equiped carbon trace on the distributor cap,bad contact point, bad ignition wire(spark plug wire) if direct ignition then it could be a bad coil. another reason a clogged injector.,low compression.
Valve, valve spring, piston, piston ring, cylinder wall, head, headgasket, diluted oil, stuck injector,
Faulty: spark plug, spark plug wire, ignition coil, ignition module, fuel injector are the most common. You most likely have a faulty ignition coil on Cylinder 3 (Passenger side, third from the front of the car). Replace the Ignition Coil and you should be good to go. Next step would be to look into the Fuel injector for that cylinder. If the new coil doesn't do the trick, start with fuel injector cleaner and see if it improves
In order: Bad cylinder, Check compression on all cylinders, low compression on one cylinder indicates failure point. No or low compression points to the affected cylinder. bad fuel injector, use ohmeter to check injector coil. Run a can of injector cleaner through the unit. Bad coil pack, pull plug wire on each cylinder of running engine, do this quickly to eliminate chance of damaging catalytic unit. Note RPM drop on each cylinder. No drop you've found the suspect. bad sparkplug, pull plugs and inspect bad wires, you get the drill bad ECM unit. not common but $$$$ Be careful playing around high voltage, if you don't know what you're doing take it to a shop.
Either the plug wires are bad or the compression on #1 cylinder is low. More input Make sure that you are at the right cylinder, cylinder # 1 on the V-6 is located on the rear head underneath the collector on the passenger side (a pain to get to). Ensure that the coil is producing good spark. There is a tool for this that will light upevery time that spark is produced. If you are getting good spark to the plug and the plug is good, the cylinder's injector may be bad. This can be checked by using an automotive stethoscope, if you are not hearing anything on that particular injector, get a fuel injector test (noid) light. It will plug into the wire harness of that injector it will test to ensure that you are getting power to your injector. To test the injector itself, take a ohmmeter to it and check for proper resistance on a 2000 only model resistance should be between 14 & 15 ohms. If all of the tests pass get a compression gauge and check compression on cylinder one.
