Shouldn't cause any damage! Adding 10% of petrol to diesel fuel was standard practice in sub-zero winters in the days before "winter-grade" diesel. It helps prevent "waxing" where the diesel fuel will turn into something like a soft candle wax at low temperatures. You may notice a slight loss of power until the petrol is out of the system. 4 litres in 40 litres of diesel should not damage your engine, the one thing it will do is give you MORE power as it works a little like a bottle of injector cleaner that you may add to a tank of diesel from time to time. It will cause higher temperature explosions in your combustion chambers and a little more power.
It will do damage to a diesel engine. Drain the tank and flush the fuel lines. Do not run this engine with unleaded gasoline in the tank.
Empty your tank out, drain the fuel lines, as the gasoline will damage your diesel engine.
If the van has a diesel engine, then you MUST use diesel fuel. Unleaded gasoline will destroy a diesel engine. Diesel fuel is also used as a lubricant in a diesel engine. The use of any other fuel except diesel will result in serious damage. If you have put unleaded in your diesel, do not start or drive this vehicle until you drain the tank and change all the fuel filters. If the van has a diesel engine, then you MUST use diesel fuel. Will cause engine damage If large amount in tank car will not start or run
Siphon out as much as possible and refill with deisel, keep topping up every time you use a gallon or so, I've done this twice and no damage to engine.
If the van is a diesel, then you need to get the unleaded fuel out of the tank and drain all fuel lines and change the filter. This will damage your diesel engine. If you only put a small amount, such as a couple of gallons, then just drain the tank.If the van is a diesel, then you need to get the unleaded fuel out of the tank and drain all fuel lines and change the filter. Bad things can happen, due not operate the engine until having the fuel tank drianed and clean diesel added.
When I STOP AT A STATION i GOT UNLEADED GAS BUT FOUND OUT DIESEL GAS WAS MIXED IN WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY UNLEADED TRUCK
No, mixing diesel fuel with unleaded gasoline is not advisable for use in a diesel engine. Diesel engines are designed to run on diesel fuel, which has different properties and combustion characteristics than gasoline. Filtering or treating the mixture would not effectively separate the two fuels or make the gasoline safe for diesel engine use. Using this mixture could lead to engine damage and performance issues.
More than likely no damage was done. Drain out all the oil and fill it with the correct weight diesel oil.
If the engine is a diesel use diesel fuel. If the engine is a gasoline engine use unleaded gasoline.
