You have a coolant leak.
You have a coolant leak.
If you mean engine coolant is getting into the car, the heater core is leaking coolant causing the coolant level to drop and that causes the engine to over heat.
Just because there is a leak doesn't mean it will overheat instantly, but if you do not keep adding coolant or fix the leak you will have engine problem
That means the engine is over heating / running hot for some reason. Check thermostat, Coolant level in radiator, check for coolant leak on engine somewhere. Fix and repair as needed.
Yes, If to much leaks out this will cause the engine to over heat, smoke and or stall hence the name engine COOLant :)
If the coolant reservoir can not maintain the proper level of coolant, it is possible the engine could over heat when the level drops.
If there is coolant on an engine, it is likely a seal or a hose is leaking or broken. It should be repaired immediately or the engine may seize up and quick working.
if car is leaking fluid , it has a leak a leak and steaming indicates it is engine coolant and the engine is over heating find the leak and fix it before your trash your engine
Fill your coolant reservoir and the light should turn off. Do it soon or your engine may over heat.
Ok, 50/50 is pretty much the norm. Coolant is not what keeps your engine cool, the water is. The coolant is what keeps the water from freezing in cold weather as well as from causing corosion to your engine.
P0117 will set if the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) reads over 248F when the engine has been running for 10 seconds. replace your coolant temp sensor. the sensor is located in the drivers side of the cylinder head, just below the valve cover line, under the coolant hose.
Lack of coolant, lack of coolant flow, air in cooling system, lack of airflow over radiator,........
It cycles coolant through the engine. Heat from the engine is transferred to the coolant through a heat exchange. The heated coolant then cycles through the system to the radiator, where heat from the coolant undergoes another heat exchange, transferring heat from the coolant to the air which passes through the radiator. Heat will also transfer from the motor to the air forced over the motor by the engine fan.
