There is a plastic mechanism in the gear shift assembly. You need to take apart the top covers;chrome plastic piece, cover, etc. After that push the hot pink plastic tab in while shifting into gear. MAKE SURE YOUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE. If this doesn't work then it means your override is broken. Try this next...you should see a cable on the top of the gear selector near the left, press the cable with your finger either left or right and select the gear you need. You will have to do this everytime you switch gears until you get it fixed.
