Engine oil, I'm assuming? Those typically use diesel engines, so any 15W API-CJ4 engine oil will do. 15W-40 is what we use in our shop for all our diesel powered trucks and equipment.
Winter or cold temperatures.
15W30 and 15W40 are commonly used, oil specifically for diesel engines, and API CJ4 requirements for newer trucks.
i believe 10w-30 and make sure its cj4 !!
Any API CJ4 diesel oil will do for the engine of a semi truck from any model year. 15W-40 is typically used by default.
That one should be diesel, so any API-CJ4 15W diesel engine oil should suffice.
Depends on the engine, year, and operating environment. The current API CJ4 is backwards compatible with all previous year models. 15W40 tends to be commonly used for "all around" usage with diesel engines. It must be oil formulated for diesel engines, hence the API CJ4 rating.
15W-40 is the recommended weight, and it MUST be API CJ4 rated oil - gas engine oil will not suffice, nor will the API CI4 oil used for pre-2007 engines.
Motor oil is usually dark straw colour. If it gets dark or black it suggests that the oil has burned due to high temperature in the engine and needs to be changed. The new breed of motor oil can stand very high temperatures and you don't need frequent oil change. The colour will still be the same if it gets wet.
Any API-CJ4 certified diesel oil will do. 15W-40 is the most commonly used weight. And if you don't know this already, maybe you shouldn't be trying to do your own PM on it.
