Take it from me. If you have been driving the same vehicle with your ABS working. You are used to that stopping distance. I had my truck worked on and they needed to get a part to make my ABS work again but sent me on my merry way with a promise to call as soon as the part came in. They did call but I put it off saying work was more important. The result was an accident. My 1st in over 20 yrs. A fire truck made the red light change to red fast and the car in front of me slammed on his brakes as did I and my wheels locked resulting in my tires SCREECHING as they continued to do as I skidded and slammed in the back of his car. All my fault from putting off getting a part put in by my mechanic waiting for me to come back, all the way to slamming in the back of these poor peoples car. Don't chance it. Get them fixed. I'm a crazy good driver. You need the shortest stopping distance possible and realize it quick when your tires are locked and screaming, getting every-ones attention, but your still going forward much further past where you would have stopped if the brakes were able to do the rapid pulse to stop you without the wheels locking.
