It destroys your engine, just had a service and an apprentice mistakenly (didn't read the label) put it in my fuel tank. The car is now a write off at 1 year old (21000kms). :-/
No. Do not put unleaded gas in a diesel tank.
its broke breww
Then you get the tank dropped and drain it out, replace the fuel filter(s), and flush the fuel system. Other than that, nothing actually happens - the diesel fuel won't ignite.
You can put petrol (UK spelling) into a diesel container (can) provided the container is empty. It is best not to, though, in case you later empty the petrol into a diesel vehicle's tank by mistake - which could happen if the container happens to be marked diesel on the outside of the container.
If the van is a diesel, then you need to get the unleaded fuel out of the tank and drain all fuel lines and change the filter. This will damage your diesel engine. If you only put a small amount, such as a couple of gallons, then just drain the tank.If the van is a diesel, then you need to get the unleaded fuel out of the tank and drain all fuel lines and change the filter. Only if you put diesel in gas tank.
The engine may not start and/or have poor performance. Drain gas tank and fill with proper fuel.
A small amount of hydraulic oil mixed with a full tank of diesel fuel, nothing.
Diesel engines have a much higher compression ratio than gasoline engines. Therefore, you need to drain all the fuel you can out of your tank and fill it with diesel. Gas in a diesel engine will go boom, and destroy your engine.
If you drove a diesel for 1,000 miles with gasoline in the tank, then, depending on the amount of diesel you put in the tank, you may have done some serious damage to the injector pump. Drain the tank of all fuel and the fill it up with diesel. You will know very soon if damage was done.
You have a very limited time to get the tank fulshed before you fuel pimp and or engine goes. Hope that helps.
Sugar water and diesel that is put in a fuel tank will ruin a cars engine. The sugar will sit for a few days before recognition, and the diesel could potentially be caught in the fuel filter.
