bad things.. engine continues to make revolutions for a bit but cams dont turn. you can have damage to valves, lifters, pushrods, pistons, and since most oil pumps run on this belt and depending on rpm's at the time oil starvation can cause bearing damage.
Yes it does damage the valves
Camshaft will be broken and inlet/outlet valves will be damaged. engin must be rebuilt or replaced.
You'll be lucky if it didn't suck a valve, or two, or three... Take it to a mechanic who can set it up. It needs to be re-timed.
When a cambelt snaps on an Alfa Romeo, it can lead to severe engine damage, particularly if the engine is of the interference type, which many Alfa Romeo models are. This may cause the pistons to collide with the valves, resulting in bent valves, damaged pistons, and potentially a complete engine failure. Immediate replacement or repair is necessary to prevent further damage. Regular maintenance and cambelt replacement at recommended intervals can help avoid such catastrophic failures.
just bought a x reg fiesta 90000 mls They tell me it has had a new cambelt is it easy to find out if it has if not what would you suggest I know if it snaps it can do lots of damage
It snaps
he can never become erect again
As its a diesel if the cambelt has snapped i would say the head is going to have to come of and you will be needing some new valves as they would of defo bent
get a new one
It freezes and snaps off.
Try buying him a gift? Well, good luck if that ever happens!
Cambelt.
