If the battery turns the starter and sounds strong- but the engine won't run, the sparkplugs have spark (check each one 1 at a time), and the fuel filter is not clogged (and not installed backwards), and the engine still won't start and run on it's own, the intake manifold pulls in air, and there's no banana in the tailpipe, then it is most likely the fuel pump. (Sometimes in the winter, you could accidently back into a snow pile- pushing compacted snow into the tailpipe. Your car won't start until you get a screwdriver or something, and pull out the snow from the tailpipe.)
The engine is likely running too rich. Check the spark plugs and clean/replace as necessary. Same thing with the air filter.
That's probably unburned fuel. The "check engine" light usually means you've got a problem with the engine emission controls. It's probably a faulty sensor or valve. I'd suggest taking it to a dealership to have the engine "scoped".
No 6ecause if that was the case and there was somthing blocking the tailpipe, that was strong enuff to do that the preasure from that would either force the enigine to stop or it would bust the weld on the excuast so no that wont happen
Depends on the engine, really.
yes it can be sometimes
I would remove the fuel line at the carb and place the line into a container while an assistant cranks the motor. A strong steady stream of gas should come out. If it sputters and spits gas there is your problem. I hope this helps you. Mark
Sometimes this is the case but not always.

It's a measure of how strong the engine is.
If you are speaking of a Ford 351 winsor then yes it is a very strong and durable engine.
sometimes it depends on how strong the perfume is
