A dipstick housing is commonly referred to as a dipstick tube or dipstick guide. It serves to hold the dipstick in place and provides a sealed environment for the engine oil to ensure accurate measurement of the oil level. In some contexts, it may also be called a dipstick assembly.
Tube - It's called a Dipstick tube
the transmission dipstick tube is bolted (1bolt) to the left rear of the transmission bell housing. Remove bolt and pull up on the dipstick housing to remove it from the transmission fluid pan.
To remove the oil dipstick housing on a 2002 PT Cruiser, first, ensure the engine is cool and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the dipstick and any components obstructing access, such as the air intake or engine cover. Unscrew the bolts securing the dipstick housing to the engine block, then carefully pull the housing straight out. Make sure to clean the area and replace any gaskets as necessary before reinstalling the new housing.

If the oil dipstick on your 2001 Honda CR-V keeps disconnecting from its housing, it could be due to wear or damage to the dipstick itself or the tube that holds it in place. Inspect the dipstick for any bends or breaks, and check the tube for cracks or looseness. If either component is damaged, replacing it should resolve the issue. Additionally, ensure that the dipstick is being inserted correctly and fully to prevent disconnection.
To check the fluids in a manual transmission you have to get under the vehicle and remove the fill plug on the side of the housing for a manual does not have a dipstick
