An indicator flasher unit, commonly referred to as a flasher relay, is an electrical component in vehicles that controls the blinking of turn signal lights and hazard lights. It operates by creating an on-off cycle, allowing the lights to flash at a specific rate when activated. The unit typically uses a bimetallic strip or electronic circuitry to manage the timing of the light emissions, ensuring that drivers are alerted to their signaling intentions. If it malfunctions, it can lead to inconsistent flashing or complete failure of the turn signals.
