You may be burning oil.
EDIT: This is a very vague question. Did you recently get exhaust work done? if not, you should first check to see if there are any lights on the dashboard that have recently come on. If not, check your spark plugs for wear. Any unburned fuel exiting the engine will pool in your catalytic converter and cause a chemical reaction to the platinum catalyst, which in turn will cause it to become VERY HOT. (when I say very hot, i mean White HOT.)
so, to follow up. Exhaust work will leave a burning smell from gasket sealer as it heats up for a couple of weeks following. If there are lights on the dashboard, it means that one of the O2 sensors has malfunctioned and you are not getting a correct mixture of oxygen and fuel in the engine for combustion. If there are no lights on and your spark plugs are worn and burned, it means that escaping unburned fuel on the exhaust stroke of the engine is causing the catalytic converter to become overheated. Other than that. I will need more information. Hope this helps.
Since this morn my car has started shaking and not functioning properly. I can also smell a burning smell coming through the fans and the boot? Could this be the Exhaust?
during a brand new cars "break in" its normal to smell like somethings burning, coming from the brakes and exhaust...the metal on the disc brakes and the pads heat up for the first time making it smell like somethings burning, same goes for the catalytic converter in the exhaust system.
Could be overheated coolant or just leaked oil burning off your exhaust headers
No. have exhaust checked/repaired
Burning Wires.
There are many different kinds of smells that could be coming from the brakes. There could be a burning smell.
Sounds like a bad head gasket allowing coolant to pass.
The odd smell coming from the kitchen is likely due to something burning or spoiled food.
The burning smell from the exhaust pipe may be caused from oil or transmission fluid leaking into the exhaust pipe. For example, if your turbo is failing on the car, then that can cause leakage from the manifold into the exhaust pipe. There may be other reasons, too, which other people will be better articulating.
A burnt smell resembling a firecracker coming from your exhaust could indicate an issue with the engine or exhaust system. It might suggest burning oil, fuel, or other materials, which could be caused by a malfunctioning component such as the catalytic converter or a leaking gasket. It's important to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic promptly to diagnose the problem and prevent potential damage. Ignoring the smell could lead to more severe issues down the line.
A strong smell of aromatics coming out of the exhaust could indicate a rich fuel mixture or an issue with the catalytic converter. It is best to have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic to diagnose and address the underlying problem.
Possibly a worn belt, seized/partially seized pulley (contacting serp. belt), worn belt tensioner or something melting to exhaust manifold.
