They are man made lubricants. Not natural like oil that comes from the ground.
Mobil 1 has a synthetic engine oil, this oil will take more abuse, heat, friction then and
regular oil on the market. I have tested this theory myself. It has been tested by the company.
I have taken, Quaker state, Pennzoil,Castrol, Valvoline, all 10w/30 regular oil. Also the Mobil 1 syn. I heated equal
amounts of each in there own beaker to a temp of 280deg.
All the regular oils cooked down to a powder, except for Mobil 1, it did not cook down.
This oil is a waste in an old vehicle, but the best for a new one.

no problem in using synthetic oils as lubricant for this model.. but i myself use virgin oil. for me it is better for older car models.. i dont think there is a problem doing so - synthetic oil is just a lubricant like standard oil. I believe it is undesirable to mix it with standard though so you would want to change and flush the old oil type before using synthetic. it is also questionable if the benefit would make the additional cost worthwhile - I would doubt it.
