a good size for a shop is 100-150 feet by 25-40 feet you should definitely have 2 basic maintenance or prep bays and if you plan on doing body work you should have 1-2 bays for painting prep and finishing and if you are going to have a paint booth then you should have room for that you could also have more basic maintenance bays
