AnswerIf the part number is AM125424, the FRAM equivalent is PH8170. Generally, the JD filter is cheaper. This one from JD Parts is $6.25. The FRAM filter equivalent is $12.95 from NAPA auto parts. Hope this helps.Just tried STP filter S3512 and it worked great. I found the cross reference in a Auto Zone store. $3.99 for the filter. No one seems to have the Fram filter....probably not an automotive use in their system.John 11/16/09
John Deere AM125424 Wix 57035 Fram PH8170 May be more, just call NAPA or any discount parts store.
The Fram filter number is PH8170.You could try John Deere AM125424 which is the same filter in a cardboard box at a much more reasonable price. See related link below.AnswerYou could also look at Briggs & Stratton x-refs since the filter mentioned is on JD tractors using the B&s manufactured twin. John Deere AM125424 can be replaced with the Purolator L10241. Works great and is less than $4 at Advance Auto Parts.
This filter is "most likely" really referred to by John Deere as the AM125424 as equipped on the D105 and similar small lawn and garden tractors. It should cross as follows: NAPA 7035 WIX 57035 Briggs and Stratton 492932S Fram PH8170 However, Fram was unable to cross over the JD number directly, had to cross over into NAPA/Wix and then reverse cross back to Fram.
