It generates electricity to chrage the automobile battery.
Is to disengage and engage
It is built into the alternator on todays automobiles.

The only type of current used by automobiles is dc current although the alternator produces ac current which is converted to dc by rectifiers built into the alternator. Even the alternator is controlled by dc current though through the use of a voltage regulator which limits the amount of negative dc sent to the stator and positive dc current sent to the rotor of the alternator which limits the EMF.
Battery, alternator would run your electrical. Fuel runs the engine
It controls the output voltage.
A latent function of automobiles is providing a sense of freedom and independence to individuals by allowing them to travel conveniently from one place to another. Additionally, automobiles also serve as a status symbol for some individuals, reflecting their social and economic standing in society.
A rectifier turns the Alternating Current (AC) produced by the Alternator into Direct Current (DC) that your car uses.
The function of the altenator regulator is to regulate voltage to the ecm to avoit any damage to critical component
To control the alternator's output voltage under varying loads. In simple terms it regulates the voltage being sent to the battery.
You can have the alternator tested free of charge at just about any major auto parts store. By the way, a bad alternator will not "discharge" a battery - the alternator's function is to provide the charge to the battery. If the alternator is faulty, then it is not providing the charge necessary to keep other components from discharging the battery. I had the alternator tested and it was charging. If the alternator has a bad diode, it will discharge the battery. I replaced the alternator and everything is fine.
The stator is the stationary winding assembly that makes the magnetic field inside the alternator. It is this magnetic field that the armature rotates in generating the electricity.
