The maximum pressure for a 7.3L High Pressure Oil Pump (HPOP) in Ford diesel engines is typically around 3,000 psi. This pressure is crucial for ensuring proper fuel injection and engine performance. However, actual operating pressures may vary depending on the specific application and modifications made to the engine. Always refer to manufacturer specifications for the most accurate information.
high pressure oil pump
During cranking, the high-pressure oil system (HPOP) on a 7.3 Power Stroke typically operates at around 500 to 1,000 psi. This pressure is necessary for the injectors to function properly, as they rely on high-pressure oil to facilitate fuel injection. If the HPOP pressure is too low during cranking, it can lead to hard starting or no-start conditions.
check the oil level in the hpop.
73l
the hpop on a 99 7.3 is on top of motor right in front of fuel filter it should have a tag that tells part #
on the side of the tire it will tell you the max pressure
Check your sidewall....usually whatever max pressure is cold. Check your sidewall....usually whatever max pressure is cold.
yes i did it
19 bar max
160psi
Engine oil HIGH pressure from HPOP pump is TOO LOW. Sometimes just an oil change to 15-40 rotella can alleviate problem BUT usuallly the oil plugs push out of the high pressure pump and cause low oil pressure to the injectors or the ICP sensor failed. the injectors must have high pressure oil to open and allow fuel to flow. the 6.0 hpop is in engine valley just under oil filter housing..do not attempt to replace if your not a ford diesel tech..can be very expensive lesson if you're not familiar with this engine.. normal cost for this oil pump repair is about 3,000.00.
It is located on the top of the HPOP High Pressure Oil Pump center of engine in back by firewall. Takes a 34mm flat wrench or a handy dandy ford cut out socket.
