The firing order is 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2. 1,3,5,7 are on the left side (driver's) and the right side is 2,4,6,8. The distributor turns clockwise.

Not sure about specifically for a 1971 307, but normally the choke has 2 wires. One is ground and the other goes to a fused 12V source (supplies 12V when igition key is turned on)
