Each engine is rated better for different things. A petrol engine generally has a higher horsepower than a diesel engine, so acceleration and speed is often better on a petrol engine. Diesel engines tend to rate better with torque, so they are better at pulling heavy loads, which is why diesel engines are used in trucks and locomotives.
You mean "motor oil for diesel engines," rather than "diesel oil the fuel." And the answer is simple: No. It will not. All the popular and not-so-popular brands of diesel engine oil sold in the US carry two ratings: a "diesel engine rating" and a "gasoline engine rating." They do this because most trucking companies also own some gasoline engine vehicles, like pickup trucks for driving to the truck dealership on parts runs, and an oil rated for both gas and diesel engines allows them to put the same oil in all their vehicles.
I depends on how much your towing and is the vehicle new or used. The best are full framed... I.E. pickup trucks. Under 2,500lbs. a compact truck Nissan frontier is currently the cheapest with a base of $18,000. $3,000+lbs. I would only use a 1/2 pickup or larger suv. Compact trucks/Suvs might be rated up to 5,000lbs. but they aren't built with the durability, transmission/brakes, frame strength that 1/2ton+ pickups are designed for. The Ram eco diesel is the best for towing a car, ram has the lowest base price of the half tons and the only diesel for 25+mpg. The diesel is better compared to the same truck with the larger gas engine.

This really becomes a personal opinion, as the best small pick-up trucks are different for everyone. I would choose Ford or Mazda; while someone else might say Dodge or Chevy. You should just pick a bunch and go take them on a test drive to see what you like best. Rated RPM in a diesel engine refers to the engine speed at which it produces its maximum power output, typically measured in revolutions per minute. This value is crucial for determining the engine's efficiency and performance characteristics. It helps in optimizing fuel consumption and operational parameters for various applications, such as in vehicles or heavy machinery. Understanding the rated RPM allows operators to run the engine within its optimal range for better performance and longevity.
