The wheel cylinder is a component of a drum brake system, typically attached to the brake backing plate. It is situated inside the brake drum and is responsible for pushing the brake shoes outward against the drum when hydraulic pressure is applied. This action creates friction, slowing down or stopping the vehicle. Each wheel cylinder generally serves one wheel and operates in tandem with the other components of the braking system.
Operates the brakes when the pedal is pressed. The pedal pushes the master cylinder, this pushes brake fluid down the brake lines, the fluid pushes the piston(s) in the wheel cylinder, the pistons push the pads or shoes onto the drum or rotor which is attached to the wheel.
2 1/2 bolts and 1 brake line attached behind wheel cylinder, remove them and thats it sometome you may need to hit the cylinder with hammer to knock it lose.
Wheel cylinder stops would keep the wheel cylinder from coming apart.
the hub is what the wheel is attached to, it in turn is attached to the axle.

take the brake line out of the back of the wheel cylinder, pull the brake pads off and then take the 2 bolts out of the back of the cylinder and pull the wheel cylinder out.
Rear wheel? Remove wheel Remove brake drum Loosen and remove brake line to wheel cylinder Remove mounting bolts at rear of wheel cylinder Pry brake shoes back from wheel cylinder Pull wheel cylinder off backing plate Install in reverse procedure Bleed affected brake line

In the cylinder head attached, to the top of the cylinder.
Looking under the driver side front wheel well. the brake fluid resevoir can be seen. The master cylinder is attached to resevoir toward front of the car.
take tire off, pull brake shoes off, and on the backing plate in the back of it you will see 2 bolts that hold the wheel cylinder on, take the brake line out of the wheel cylinder and remove the 2 bolts and the wheel cylinder is off.
