The 4th revision of the specification.
Dot4 fluid can be used and mixed with dot3 brake systems. If your brake system calls for dot4 fluid, you can not use dot3 fluid in the system, regardless of being only dot3 or mixed. Dot3 system = either dot3 or dot4 fluid, or a mixture of the two. Dot4 system = only dot4 fluid, and NO dot3 fluid.
Dot 3 or Dot 4. and if manual the clutch fluid is the same as the brake fluid (Dot3, Dot4)
Yes you can. Simply put, DOT4 is a premium version of DOT3, and they will mix. A lot of newer vehicles spec DOT4 in the brake or hydraulic clutch systems, so check to see what your specific application calls for. Quick side note: DOT5 brake fluid is the one that WILL NOT mix with DOT3 or DOT4.
I believe that DOT4 is ok for DOT3 applications, but DOT3 is NOT ok for DOT4 (to remember: "big fish eat the little fish, but little fish can't eat the big fish")
No damage done. DOT 4 meets or exceeds the qualities of DOT 3 and has a lower deterioration rate
if you car required dot 4 which is the case for newer cars, it is best to have the system bled. since the boiling point of dot three is less than dot four. this will cause stress to your entire braking system if not properly dealt with.
DOT 4 brake fluid
Type Dot 4 Brake Fluid Will Be Ok
When refilling brake fluid it is important to use the correct type of fluid for the car. For a 1995 Toyota Corolla the correct fluid is brake fluid dot 3 or brake fluid dot 4.
It can be, a lot of hydraulic clutch systems do use DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid.
Brake fluid is an extremely important component of vehicle maintenance. For a 2007 Impala, there are several brake fluids to choose from. The brake fluid will depend on the specific needs for your car. The factory brake fluid is a DOT 4 fluid.
Regardless the brand name, It should be (Dot 4) brake fluid.
