Dielectric mineral oil. I've used Mobil DTE Light and DTE 25 with good results.
Question is: why is it needing oil ? If it's losing oil, there's a problem. By adding more oil you aren't fixing anything, just delaying a repair.
what oil used in the american pumper water pump
It uses multiple pumps and a secondary oil reservoir.
Myers sump pumps typically use a specific type of oil known as non-detergent oil for lubrication. This oil is designed to withstand the operating conditions of the pump while providing adequate lubrication to the motor. It is important to check the manufacturer's specifications for the recommended oil type and viscosity to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the pump. Always follow proper maintenance guidelines when changing or adding oil.
Submersible sump pumps typically use mineral oil as insulating oil, which helps to cool and lubricate the motor while preventing electrical shorts. In some cases, biodegradable or synthetic oils may be used for environmental considerations. These oils are designed to have good thermal stability and low volatility to ensure optimal performance in submerged conditions.
The sump is the oil reservoir. An oil pump lifts the oil from the sump and forces it under pressure through the engine. The oil then returns to the sump to be used again. Some sumps have fins on then - this acts as a cooler to help cool the oil in the sump.
In a sump pump, oil typically serves as a lubricant for the motor and other moving parts, ensuring smooth operation and reducing friction. It helps dissipate heat generated during the pump's operation, prolonging its lifespan. Additionally, some sump pumps use oil to provide a seal that prevents moisture from entering the motor housing, enhancing durability and performance.

Using 5W30 synthetic oil in a submersible sump pump is generally not recommended. Most sump pumps are designed to operate with specific lubricants, typically a lighter oil or grease specifically formulated for electric motors. Using the wrong type of oil can affect the pump's performance and longevity. Always consult the manufacturer's guidelines for the appropriate lubricant to use.
The SAAB will have an oil sump, specifically the oil pan collection for the engine oil and the fuel sump, the collection area for the fuel pump to pull from.
oil level in sump
on the bottom of the sump!
A dry sump is not submerged under water as a wet sump is. a dry sump uses a resivoir to hold the oil much like the brake fluid. a wet sump has the oil sump bolted to the bottom of the engine block :D
