the rotor should be pointing towards the number one plug position on the distributor cap, and the engine should be on compression stroke. If its not the motor will be 180 degrees out

Why would your rotor be pointing at the 6 position on the distributor when the 1 cylinder is TDC?

once the number 1 piston is on tdc which ever point the rotor is facing becomes the number one position. if you conect the wires from there and follow your firing order you should have no problems.(i have done it)

Where is dead center on the Distributor of a 1992 Ford Aerostar Van?

Which piston is number 1 in the firing order of a 1987 Mitsubishi Montero aka Dodge Raider?

THERE SHOULD BE FIRING ORDER ON THE INTAKE MANAFOLD LOOK FOR NUMBER 1 AND YOU SHOULD BE HOME FREE GOOD LUCK John Note that on nearly every engine in the world the number 1 piston is going to be the one farthest forward on the block (IE closest to the radiator). On the Mitsubishi 3.0 v6 the firing order is 1,2,3,4,5,6. You will start with number one. It should be at about the 9 O'clock position. The problem is that the distributor cap is internally wired and the cap is marked for the correct plug wire. The engine will fire correctly if you wire the cap as marked. The cylinders are 1,3,5, ont he passeger side front bumper to windshield and 2,4,6 on the drivers side.

Which point is 1 on your 1989 gmc 2.5?

If you mean which point on the distributor cap, the easiest way to find it is to set number one piston at top dead center and see where the rotor is pointing in relation to the distributor cap - the rotor should be pointing to the location of number one park plug wire firing point - this is where the number one spark plug wire should be connected. The rest of the wires are connected according to their firing order.

How do you push the caliper piston back on a 2004 Chevy Malibu to allow room for the new pads?

On every car (I guess) you can try to push it with your hand and it should take its original position. If that does not work, take a C-Clamp and protect the piston with a piece of carton and it should take its original position.

Where is the 1 plug on a 2.8L 1993 GMC Sonoma?

Not Sure What You Are Asking. The Number One Plug Is The First Cylinder On Your Right From Front Of Engine. But Are You Wanting To Know Where Number One Is In The Cap ? The Firing Order Should Be 1-2-3-4-5-6 if you have a 2.8 I`m Pretty Sure Of This. To Actually Find The Position Of The Number One In The Cap You Will Need To Get The Engine On #1 Firing Stroke or TDC. Then Look At Position Of Rotor It Will Be Pointing Toward Position Of Number One. Hope This Helps

What is the firing order for a 1991 Mazda MPV?

Where are the timing marks located on a Chevy van g20 57l?

If this is a 305/350/400 small block Take the lead from the coil to the distributor "OFF" to prevent the engine from firing. This will take two people or a remote starter. Turn the engine over until the mark on the tortional damper lines up with the center or O mark on the timing tab on the front of the engine fastened to the crankcase front cover and the engine is in the number one firing position. This may be determined by placing fingers on the nuber one valve as the mark on the damper comes near the O mark on the crankshaft front cover. If the valves are not moving the engine is in the number one firing position. If the valves move as the mark comes up to the timing tab the engine is in number 6 position and should be rotated one more complete turn to bring it to the number one firing position. Also take the cover off of the distributor to determine that the rotor is positioned properly pointing to the number one spark plug then follow the firing order for that engine should be 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 Wayne
