This week, I have changed the brake pads and water pump on three vehicles that I have never worked on before. I jack them up and get in there with a full set of Allen keys and small wrenches within reach. I look and see if it needs an Allen key or wrench and approximately what size. Then I try tools that may fit till I find the correct one -usually within 2 tries. - This is not a complicated exercise. . . .
with a wrench

It would be either a 15 mm wrench or a 7mm Allen key.
I believe that's a 5/16 Allen.
it is an Allen wrench not a TORX socket
a brake caliper tool (really)
i just changed my front rotors and pads on my 2001 escape, 6 cylinder. everyone was wrong on the wrench sizes, including the idiots at my local ford dealer. to get the brake calipers off I needed a 7mm hex bit. to get the caliper bracket off I needed an 18mm socket, it was a very easy job but check your wrench sizes first, it seems that every year and model uses different sizes.

Metric Allen wrench.
To change the front brake pads on a 2001 Mazda Tribute, you will need a few essential tools: a lug wrench to remove the wheel, a socket set (typically 14mm or 17mm) to remove the caliper bolts, and a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to compress the caliper piston. Additionally, a flathead screwdriver can be useful for prying the caliper off if it's stuck. Safety equipment, such as gloves and eye protection, is also recommended.
You need a 13mm box wrench.
It takes a 3/8" allen wrench to r & r that caliper bolt.
