To check the oil on a 2004 Mercedes S430, first ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is warm. Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to settle, then pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, and remove it again to check the oil level. The oil should be between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick. If it's low, add the appropriate type of oil as specified in the owner's manual.
