I Have just bought mags with 235 / 45 R17 97W tyres - for my 2000 VW Golf - the wheel bolts are 5 / 100 and offset is 32-45 apparently normally tyres used for falcon or firebird.. i have been told the wheels are ok but the width e.g 235 is too big for golf and will adversely affect the steering - they advised a 215 or less / 45
No, you cannot directly substitute 215/65 R17 tires for 235/45 R17 tires, as they have different widths and aspect ratios. The first number indicates the tire's width in millimeters, while the second number represents the aspect ratio, or the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width. A 235 tire is wider and has a lower profile compared to a 215 tire. Switching between these sizes could affect handling, performance, and safety.
Yes, 235/45-18 tires can replace 235/50-18 tires, but there are important considerations. The 235/45 tire has a shorter sidewall height compared to the 235/50, which can affect ride comfort, handling, and speedometer accuracy. Additionally, the overall diameter of the two tires differs, so it's essential to ensure that the new tire size is compatible with your vehicle's specifications and that it won't affect clearance or performance. Always consult your vehicle's manual or a tire professional before making a change.
Yes, you can
235/45/17 OR 215/55/17
No 16 inch tire will fit on a 17 inch wheel.
NO, that is a very radical change and may rub steering tires on the frame.
The Standard tire is 235/45/17 and the optional tires are 235/40/18.
Tire sizes that can fit a 255/50 R17 include 245/55 R17 and 265/45 R17, as they have similar overall diameters and widths. However, it's essential to check the vehicle's specifications and ensure that the alternative tire sizes do not interfere with the suspension or bodywork. Always consult a tire professional or your vehicle's manual for the best options tailored to your specific needs.
