If by out of range you mean too high or too low on the dipstick, both are bad. If you are reading too high and you have not added too much oil it means something else is getting into the crankcase, either antifreeze or fuel. Most often either means an expensive repair bill. If too low, as long as it isn't too far down, nothing will happen as long as you top it off and keep a close eye on it. most likely it means you have a seal or gasket problem, if you are not sending a blue cloud out behind you. Bad rings and/or valve seals if you are.
If by out of range you mean you've gone farther than you should before changing oil, you will be getting a build-up of corrosive contaminates in your oil that will cause excessive wear on critical surfaces.
it will seize up
Engine will overheat and seize
If the engine was void of any oil it would seize in the matter of minutes and yes the car would not work.
what is a good engine oil to use in my car
If your car's oil is changed on a regular basis at or around 3000 miles and you happen to miss that interval once in a while, nothing bad is going to happen. If you continuously are slow to get your car's oil changed, you can expect to cut you engine's life short.
It is not good. Your head gasket has holes for the oil and water passages in the engine. You may have deprived your engine of oil or coolant and this may shortened the life of your engine.
the thick liquid would plug your radiator and ruin your water pump. and destroy your engine.
An oil leak is always going to be out of the engine as the engine contains oil and the car does not. I think you are saying you are loosing oil with no apparent leak. If that is the case the engine is burning oil and that is why you see no leaks.
Have someone drain out the oil and replace the filter, now! Do not run the engine! This is not good for the engine!
If you mean oil from a car? This would usually ONLY happen when there was a problem with the gasket between the cylinder head & the engine block. The oil will seep into the water cooling channels of the engine & leave a yellow whiteish scum in the water top up bottle on your car. Usually means a new head gasket on your car which will be quite expensive. Hope this helps?
You probably spilled some oil on or near the engine, making it burn when the engine heats up.
no you check your oil with car off easier when car is cooled off
