Perhaps the same problem as i had on my 99 ram sport, fuel pressure was to high causing it to start hard (cranked longer than normal b4 starting)and would get an awful smell inside from time to time. cured mine by replacing the fuel sensor on top of the gas tank that regulates fuel pressure
