What would cause the engine light to come on and stay on in a 2001 Chevy Venture van?
I have had this problem on a 1998 and 2000 Chevy Venture and it was due to the seal on the gas cap. It caused the sensor to remain on due to allowing too much oxygen into the mix. I had to take it to a dealer to reset get it reset. Hope that helps. My problem was the catalytic converter (around 150000 miles). I am one of those guys that hate bringing any problem I have with my vehicles to a dealer or a mechanic -- Period. If your check engine is on and will not go off bring it to AutoZone or Checker (CSK Auto) and use one of their 'free' scanner tools to read the codes off the van, find out was is wrong, reset the light and repair the problem. ___________________________________________________________________________ I had this problem recently on my 2001 venture. The problem was the bank one Ho2 sensor was bad. This triggers the check engine light. After replacing the sensor (which was about $68.00),The problem was gone . Just remember to clear the code.Edubs
