manual tranny's take gear oil not tranny fluid. you need to get all that fluid out and fill the tranny with 80/90 weight gear oil
well it all depends on your transmition... if you have a nice trubo 400 tranny in there it should be getting about 420+ to the tires
Put tranny up then install the torque converter to tranny first , NOTE : Make sure when installing the torque converter to the tranny that you can only slide your middle finger in bettween the tranny and torque converter , if the torque converter is not all the way in, the torque converter will tare up the tranny shaft.
You most certainly can, however it does require a partner. Back before there were machines to do transmission flushes this is how we used to do it. Jack the vehicle up slightly depending on vehicle type. Disconnect the transmission fluid feed line from either the tranny cooler or the tranny itself (has to be the feed line) now with the feed line inside of a good sized bucket have a friend with a funnel ready to begin pouring new tranny fluid into the filler. Start the car and as the old tranny fluid exits the feed line in the bucket your buddy should be pouring new tranny fluid into the filler as soon as you see new tranny fluid begin to exit the feed line turn the engine off. Now doing it yourself will require a few additional quarts of trans fluid, but it is a small price to pay for saving on the labor. Good Luck!
First you remove the battery, air filter, distributor cap and rotor, disconect shift cables, clutch cable, and the three plugs going into the transmition, remove wheels and axles, support engine and transmition w/ jacks, remove exhaust, transmition mounts, crossmember, rear engine/transmition mount, remove the transmition, then theres your clutch and replace it you'll need a tourqe wrench i think its 13lbs for the clutch, greese the spines and tranny then throw it all back together again, this requires that ALOT OF CURSE WORDS TO BE USED. Buy a servise manual like haynes our some thing like that its a pain but I've done it twice in six months to a 92 and a 91 all modles are basicly the same just double check parts with a parts dealer.
Usually you just fill it from where you pull out the tranny dipstick from. Just get a funnel with a little hose attched at the bottom and start pouring in. Where is the transmission filter on contour 99
2.0l 4g63 head will fit on a 2.4l 4g64 block. there are a couple holes that will have to be plugged for oil on the block but other then that you should be good. and there is no need to swap tranny unless you want a better one.
you keep filling the tranny up till the fluid comes to the top of the fill tube. if you need any more help let me know

On a automatic it will be added by pouring it down the dipstick tube for the tranny. Make sure you don't over fill so add it a little at a time. Then start your car and with the brake depressed run the transmission through the gears, this will allow the fluid to circulate throughout the tranny. Turn the car off and check the level again. Add more if needed. On a manual there should be a plug on the side of the tranny. It will be the top most location plug. There might be a drain plug do not remove this one or you will have a mess. Fill the tranny until fluid comes out of the top hole. Reinstall plug and youre good to go.
spy glass on side of tranny. it is of course a sealed tranny.
