Normally this means the gear synchronizer is worn out or damaged. Usually the damage is caused by shifting without using the clutch.

No big job mate. Gearbox to be removed. The last car to change a clutch without moving the gearbox was a Vauxhall Cavalier 1998/99.

I had same problem so I changed clutch, no diference. found the plate the clutch pedal conects to had pulled away from bulkhead. rewelded to bulkhead and clutch was fine.
The clutch slave cylinder on a Vectra,is described by Vauxhall as a central release assembly.The release bearing and hydraulic cylinder are a common unit which are replaced together,I don't think any service parts are available.It is secured to the gearbox with 3 bolts and the pressure pipe.Unfortunately you have to remove the whole transmission for access.

hi i have a astra and the clutch seems high but vaxhall said its normal ?
