Sounds like you may have moisture in the brake fluid. Have your brake fluid totally replaced. Your master cylinder may also be failing. Hold steady pressure on the brake pedal. If it very slowly goes down replace the master cylinder.
Compared to todays modern brake systems they will feel hard. Also depends on if they are power brakes or not. Some cars of that era did not have power brakes and they were very hard to push.
Push down on the brake pedal and hold it there, do not pump.Apply the brakes in an even manner until the braking system starts to pulse and vibrates the brake peddle. This is how anti lock brakes tell you you are getting the most available braking from them.Keep enough pressure or force on the peddle until the vehicle comes to a stop.
Sounds like your handbrake is stuck or rear brake drums are seized. Check out hand barke system and rear brakes.
The brakes will be real hard to push.
It sounds like bad struts. Push down on the front of the vehicle as hard as you can and let go. If the vehicle bounces more than one time the struts are bad.
Do you mean when you push the pedal " hard " you hear noise..........if so could be the ABS..........if not, then please have your brakes checked for safety.
The French press is hard to push down when making coffee because the plunger needs to push through the coffee grounds, which creates resistance and requires more force to press down.
SOME of that is normal. It's only a problem if the power brakes are getting hard to push.
Most cars with some form of power-assist brakes use engine manifold vacuum to literally "suck" the brake pedal towards the floor, based on how hard you push the pedal down. What you're hearing is the air moving through the control valve in the booster housing.
Why is the gas padle so hard to push down
It means it is time to have your brakes checked.
