If the fuel pump relay goes bad your fuel pump will not get power and you will get no fuel. If your fuel pressure is showing too low your pump is either weak and needs to be replaced, your fuel lines are restricted somewhere ( or possibly leaking ) or your fuel filter needs to be replaced.
fuel pump will not run... no fuel to the engine.
The fuel pump pressure is what allows the fuel to flow to the engine. It determines how much goes in and also when.
If the fuel pump relay is defective the fuel pump will not run.
The fused lead goes to the fuel pump relay in the relay center then to the fuel pump in the gas tank. The relay is operated by the engine control module computer
If there a light on the instrument panel that says fuel cutoff relay that's on, then behind the passenger kick panel is a relay with a red button, push it and if it clicks and the fuel cutoff relay light goes off and you have fuel pressure you should be alright. If the relay doesnt click and the fuel cutoff relay light stays on then you probably have a bad relay. If the light goes out and you don't have any or enough fuel pressure then you need a new fuel pump or fuel filter and or both. also if you don't have enough fuel pressure you could have a bad fuel pressure regulator which is on the back of the engine. If you get the light to go off and it runs good then you have solved the problem. If the light goes out and it starts but does not run very well you should check the fuel pressure. Hope this helps. The fuel that goes in to an internal combustible engine are gasoline or diesel fuel.
Swap the fuel pump relay with another like relay in the fuse/relay center. If the problem with the fuel pump goes away, the relay was bad. If not, knowing GM fuel pumps, the fuel pump is the problem.
The fuel pump relay is in the fuel pump itself, Therefore when your relay goes bad or you get a 5-4 trouble code you must replace the fuel pump.
No the trans wouldn't cause it not to run. Unless it was a bad Safety Switch/ Backup Light... if that goes bad the engine wouldn't crank at all... Does it have spark and is it receiving fuel. If no spark check the coil, if the coil is getting no power check the ASD Relay... for Fuel it could still be the ASD, or Fuel Pump, or the Fuel Relay.
If the main relay goes bad the fuel pump will not function. This has caused many a person to replace the fuel pump only to find out later that the culprit was the Main Relay and not the fuel pump at all. If you suspect the main relay is bad just replace it to be sure.
Disconnect the fuel line that goes from the pump to the fuel filter and check for flow - if you get fuel there, the pump is ok. If not, the pump needs to be replaced. If ok, re-connect the fuel line and disconnect the line that comes out of the filter (filter to engine) and checlk for flow. If little or no flow, replace the filter. If filter is ok, reconnect the fuel line and look for an obstruction further up the line. You could also trouble-shoot in reverse by disconnecting the fuel line where it connects at the engine and checking for flow there. Then just work backwards from there.
try replacing the delta pressure feedback sensor. this fixed my explorer.Or you can try replacing the relay.
