The check engine light may take some time to turn off after replacing the EGR valve. Generally, it can take a few driving cycles for the vehicle's onboard computer to reset and recognize that the issue has been resolved. If the light remains on after several drives, it may indicate that additional diagnostics are needed, as there could be other related issues. Clearing the check engine light with an OBD-II scanner after the repair can also help reset it immediately.
check engine light reset on a 1999 Acura CL 3.0.. Just replaced the egr valve. Thx
replace only when u get a check engine light. the valve is good for the life of the motor(should be)
What did the check engine light codes say was bad?
You can reset it with your OBD reader or you can disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes to reset the check engine light.
Assuming you mean the egr valve, I would make sure that you have the check engine codes cleared. In addition, are you sure that it was truly the egr valve, and not the DPFE sensor monitoring the valve?
it usually means the the EGR valve needs to be replaced. If your car is "bucking" on start up then for sure it is the EGR valve.
First, the oil change has nothing to do with the check engine light. The EGR may have not been the problem. You need to have the codes read and diagnose from there.
you have a stuck valve
Try removing the valve and blowing air through both passages. If one feels restricted as though from carbon buildup you should clean it out.
Check your gas cap to make sure it seals tight. My check engine light comes on every now and then in my 1991 Camry and once I reseat the cap it goes out almost immediately. If this is not the problem have a mechanic check the oxygen sensor. Good luck, JFD EGR Va.ve? It might be your EGR valve which is part of your emissions system. My 1997 Celica passed the emissions test but the EGR valve still needed to be replaced. After it was replaced, the check engine light went off. The part cost about $75 from a Toyota dealer.
It can.
A blinking "check engine" light is an indication that the computer has detected a SERIOUS problem that can result in permanent damage to the engine. You need to connect a diagnostic code scanner to find out what the computer has detected.
