Pull the chrome cover of the left side of the motor the timing marks are on the fly wheel. An F and a T.
To set the timing on a Mercury 50 HP engine, first, ensure the engine is in a safe, stable position and that you have the necessary tools, including a timing light. Disconnect the spark plug wires and connect the timing light to the number one cylinder. Start the engine and aim the timing light at the flywheel to observe the timing marks. Adjust the timing by rotating the stator or adjusting the timing advance mechanism until the marks align as specified in the engine’s service manual. Always refer to the manufacturer’s specifications for precise timing settings.
If the timing marks on the 2001 Hyundai XG300 align correctly when the engine is at TDC but the compression test indicates the cam is 50 degrees off, it suggests that the timing belt may have jumped a tooth or the camshaft is improperly aligned. To fix this, you should first turn the engine off, then remove the timing belt cover to inspect the belt alignment. If it’s misaligned, adjust the belt by loosening the tensioner and repositioning it to align the camshaft and crankshaft marks. After re-tightening the tensioner, rotate the engine by hand to verify that all timing marks remain aligned before starting the engine again.
When the marks on the timing chain are lined up properly, the piston is about 50 deg after top dead center.
It depends what Honda you have. For the 1995 Civic the idle speed settings are:D13B2 ENGINE......800+/-50 RPMD15Z1 ENGINE......700+/-50 RPMD15B2 ENGINE......810+/-50 RPMD15B7 ENGINE......750+/-50 RPMD16Z6 ENGINE......750+/-50 RPMWith the IAC valve disconnected (when setting up):All Engines (except D15B2)...420+/-50 RPMD15B2 ENGINE....................625+/-50 RPM
In a 1990 Dodge Ram 50 pickup both the 2.4 litre four cylinder engine and the 3.0 litre V6 engine uses a timing BELT

A Ford 429 engine does not have a timing belt. As a V8 engine, it uses a timing chain that is located on the front of the engine behind the crank pulley, the water pump, and the timing chain cover. If you've little experience working on big block V8s then I'd suggest paying a mechanic (make sure he's in his 50's or he won't know how to do it!) to replace the timing chain.
every 40 to 50 thousand miles or depend how much you drive it daily.
You can not use the same oil in a engine for manual for a Honda. Each car takes a different type of oil.
When the marks on the chain and the marks on the sprockets are lined up the piston is after tdc. This is how it is supposed to be. Just align the links on the cahin with the proper marks on the sprockets.
