Down tube that holds trans dipstick.
go to a transmission shop. the filter is located in the trans fluid pan. its best to have fluid and filter chnged at the same time
In a 2004 Ford Explorer, the transmission fluid is added through the transmission dipstick tube. To check or add fluid, you should locate the dipstick, usually marked with a yellow or red handle, and use a funnel to pour the fluid in. Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is running to get an accurate reading. Always use the recommended type of transmission fluid for optimal performance.
To change the transmission fluid in a 1998 Ford Explorer, start by warming up the vehicle, then lift it and secure it on jack stands. Remove the transmission pan bolts and gently lower the pan to drain the old fluid. Replace the filter, clean the pan, and reinstall it with a new gasket. Finally, refill the transmission with the appropriate type and amount of new fluid, checking the level with the dipstick as you go.
My Ford Explorer takes automatic transmission fluid for the power steering fluid so I guess it would depend on what type of vehicle you have and what type of power steering fluid is supposed to be used
in the oil filler tube
I'm not a mechanic / technician but is your engine oil level going up I've heard that the modulator valve on the passenger side of the automatic transmission ( behind a heat shield ) can allow the transmission fluid to be sucked into the engine through the vacuum line if there is a problem with the modulator valve on Ford Explorers up to the 1994 model
for this you will have to go to the dealer
In the reservoir at the lower left front of the engine.
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe that is the transmission modulator valve on the passenger side of the transmission ( behind a heat shield ) I've heard if they are bad that the transmission fluid gets sucked into the engine through the vacuum line causing the engine oil level to go up and the transmission fluid level to go down
The power steering fluid for it is actually the transmission fluid. It should be Mercron. Is this suposed to go in the power steering chamber or the transmission chamber to work. The fluid in my 2006 Ford Escape XLT steering fluid tank is black.
4 quarts go in the torque converter and 3 in the pan.
For a 2001 Ford Explorer, it's generally recommended to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles, depending on driving conditions. If you frequently tow heavy loads, drive in stop-and-go traffic, or operate in extreme temperatures, more frequent changes may be necessary. Always consult your owner’s manual for specific guidelines and recommendations for your vehicle. Regular checks for fluid color and level can also help determine if a change is needed sooner.
