In the engine compartment, between the battery and the firewall. It's some ways down so its easy to miss if you don't know where to look. Firewall = the devider between the engine compartment and the driver.

In the 1986 Toyota MR2, the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank. To access it, you'll need to remove the fuel tank, as it is not an external pump. It's important to disconnect the battery and relieve fuel pressure before attempting any repairs for safety reasons.
To replace the fuel on a Toyota MR2 the gas tank will have to be drained and removed. Locate the mounting hardware and drop the tank. The fuel pump is located on top of the tank disconnect it and replace the pump.
It's in the engine compartment on the drivers side. It's a black cylinder.

it is located just below battery slightly toward the middle of the car in front engine bay. Approx 2" in dia and 2" long

the fuel tank is located under the shifter, in between the seats under the car You have to take the armrest out inside the car between the seats and unplug your fuel gage before removing the gas tank.(or you will rip out the wires)
